Employment Opportunity Sawyer County Information and Assistance (I&A) Specialist

Sawyer County Health and Human Services is accepting applications for a part time (17.5 hours per week) Information and Assistance (I&A) Specialist. Under the direct supervision of the Adult Long Term Supervisor, the I&A Specialist through the Aging and Disability Resource Center of the North (ADRC-N) provides information about services, programs, resources (public and private) to meet the long term care needs of adult Sawyer County residents. As such, the I&A Specialist can help maximize opportunities for self-sufficiency and choice for target groups, including adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities, elders, mental illness, and alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA). The I&A Specialist is expected to integrate trauma informed care while serving our communities.

Qualifications for this position include a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited human services program, a license to practice as a registered nurse in Wisconsin pursuant to s. 441.06 Stats, or related field. A minimum of 1-year experience working with adults in ADRC target groups (elderly or adults with physical or intellectual/developmental disabilities). Qualifying work experience may be paid or unpaid and may include internships, field placement, and volunteer work. Knowledge of and/or experience with public benefits (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, SSDI, etc.) preferred. Experience in computer use and keyboarding. Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and proof of insurance. Applicants must meet Wisconsin’s Long Term Care Functional Screen (LTCFS) screener qualifications and successfully complete certification within 3 months of hire. Maintain LTCFS screener status via bi-annual recertification of Wisconsin’s LTCFS. Applicants must successfully complete ADRC I&A Specialist training. Applicant must successfully complete training by the national Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) as a Certified Information and Referral Specialist – Aging/Disability (CIRS-A/D) within 2-years of hire. Applicant must be able to manage multiple programs, and provide outreach and presentations to the community and area agencies.
